Recognizing Elder Abuse

An occasional mean comment is to be expected in the context of long-standing relationships. Elder abuse, however, falls outside the range of normal.

Elder abuse can take several forms, including:

  • Physical abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Emotional or psychological abuse
  • Financial or material exploitation
  • Neglect
  • Abandonment
  • Self-neglect
