Saying mean things can result from a build-up of intense feelings

  • Frustrated – I can’t respond to the same question with patience Every. Single. Time.
  • Ineffective – how could Dad forget I was here yesterday? Is visiting worth the effort?
  • Unimportant – how could my own mother forget my name?
  • Worried – why are they acting that way, what can I do, where are we going from here?
  • Sad – I’m mad, but I’m also deeply sad. The sadness feels deeper than the anger.
